Steven Nadler enseigne la philosophie à l'Université de Wisconsin-Madison depuis 1988, après deux années d'enseignement au Collège Saint-Jean à Annapolis. Il a été professeur invité à l'Université de Stanford, l'Université de Chicago et l'EHESS à Paris
Titulaire de la Chaire de Spinoza en 2007.
